Rhea Marmentini Stone Sculpture

Transforming stone into metaphysical realities
as subliminal, surreal, symbols has always
been a magical process that continually,
monumentally, grows as the stone is sculpted.
The stones used are minerals that have
densified over vast scales of geological time
so I think of sculpting as a silent way of
making music with that density of time.
The concrete nature of my work provides
many opportunities for converting disorder
into grace as I reposition the stone back
into the rhythm of metamorphosis of
millions of years.
